Day 1 of our first ever garage sale here at the ranch an interesting/fun day.  Of course we
do not have much traffic on our road (which is part of the reason we like living out here).
We had several customers and made a little $$ and got rid of some of our "extras".  We
had already decided that what did not sell by about 2 pm Saturday afternoon, we would
put out down by the gate and just let people come and take what they wanted.  When
Rachel and I were closing up for the evening, looking at just the very few things that we
would not put out at the gate - we decided - HEY, WHY DON'T WE JUST HAVE
EVERYTHING FOR FREE TOMORROW EXCEPT THESE FEW ITEMS!!!  So we:
rearranged to have just 2 card tables of things for sale
everything else FREE
placed "free" & "gratis" signs on our existing signs
will unlock the gate at 8 am and see what happens
I hope people come and take whatever they want/need.
Day 2 we even had less people than on Day 1.  It was interesting to see people
react to "FREE".  Some people still only took a few things - while others got things
for themselves and their families.  One lady said that she felt guilty and we said
DON"T and got her more garbage bags.  I told her that if she wanted to by some
raffle tickets that the boys are selling for 4-H to make her feel better she could...
She did :)
We really thought we would have more people with the free signs, but when we
went to Home Depot Saturday night - we noticed that the "FREE GRATIS" parts of
the signs had fallen off we had used an off brand Duct Take :(
At the end of the day, we still had tons
left - so we started packing it up.
Garbage bags full of clothes for
Goodwill and boxes of stuff to take to
the entrance gate.
Then...  What we were waiting for all
day....  Someone who wanted ALL of
the clothes!!!  Grandparents with a
BIG family AND a pickup to haul it in!!!!!

GOAL ACHIEVED
EMPTY
CONTAINERS
We had it "at the barn" and "in a
pen" - that way the animals can't get
in - or at least most of them.
We got to relax a little while
The boys built a hay bunker in the
pen next to where we had the
garage sale and had TONS OF
FUN!
When we got home from church
only 2 things remained at the
gate!!  YEAH
